Cantina Mesa: the heartbeat of Sardinian wine

Cantina Mesa is a striking modern winery located in Sant’Anna Arresi, in the Sulcis wine region of Sardinia. Born from a dream to express the very essence of its land, Cantina Mesa celebrates the generosity of its Mediterranean terroir and the spirit of conviviality that defines the island.

A vision born of love for Sardinia

Cantina Mesa was founded in 2004 by **Gavino Sanna**, a celebrated Italian advertising figure, who envisioned creating wines that were as simple, unique, and extraordinary as the land itself. The name “Mesa,” meaning “table” in both Sardinian and Spanish, encapsulates the winery’s core values: nourishment, celebration, hospitality, and community.

An extraordinary terroir

The vineyards stretch across hills kissed by Mediterranean sunshine around Porto Pino, sheltered from north‑westerly winds and surrounded by the sea. This luminous land, with its sandy soils and ideal exposure, nurtures grapes with pronounced freshness, aromatic richness, and distinct character — hallmarks of Mesa’s wines.

Authentic wines respectful of fruit

Grapes are hand‑harvested and carefully sorted, then vinified in a contemporary cellar designed to honour the raw material. Fermentations and aging occur in steel, wood, or concrete tanks, depending on the cuvée, to preserve the pure expression of fruit and terroir.

The Mesa style

Cantina Mesa wines embody Sardinia’s personality: vibrant, expressive, and elegantly balanced. The range includes aromatic Vermentino di Sardegna whites, full‑bodied Carignano del Sulcis reds, and other local expressions that showcase the region’s viticultural diversity.

A philosophy of sharing

For Mesa, wine is more than a product — it is a celebration around the table. Conviviality, generosity, and simplicity are central to every bottle, where the flavours of Sardinian earth mingle with the vitality of the Mediterranean climate.

Behind the wines

Today, Cantina Mesa is recognized for its distinctive style and meticulous care, rooted in the passion of its founder and a lasting commitment to crafting wines that tell the story of Sardinia, its landscapes, its heritage, and its people.
