A global benchmark for Sherry wines

Founded in 1835 in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, González Byass represents nearly two centuries of excellence in the world of wine and spirits. Born from the dream of Manuel María González Ángel to bring the wines of Jerez to the world, the company remains family-owned today, five generations later.

A story of passion and international vision

From the very beginning, González Byass stood out for its visionary mindset. In the 19th century, Manuel María González partnered with his British agent, Robert Blake Byass, to expand exports to the United Kingdom. This alliance laid the foundation for a globally oriented company and helped establish Sherry as an international benchmark.

It was also during this time that Tío Pepe was created—one of the most famous fino sherries in the world—produced from a historic solera that has been maintained for generations.

Tradition, innovation, and diversification

Since its origins, González Byass has been built on four key pillars: tradition, innovation, sustainability, and a constant pursuit of excellence.

Over time, the company has evolved by diversifying its portfolio into still wines, brandies, gins, and whiskies, while expanding into other renowned wine regions in Spain and internationally. Today, González Byass is a true “family of wines,” bringing together a collection of prestigious estates.

A legacy passed down through generations

Still led by the founder’s descendants, the company preserves a unique know-how that blends tradition with modern techniques. This family continuity ensures a long-term vision and a consistent commitment to quality in every wine produced.

Commitment to quality and sustainability

Sustainability lies at the heart of González Byass’ philosophy. From vineyard to distribution, every step is designed to respect the environment and highlight each terroir. The company is committed to crafting authentic wines that reflect their origin while minimizing environmental impact.

Behind the wines

Today, the fifth generation of the González family continues to shape the future of the company with the same pioneering spirit as its founder: sharing the richness of Jerez wines—and beyond—with the world.
