An Alpine Cooperative in the Heart of the Aosta Valley

Located in the village of Arnad in Italy’s Aosta Valley, La Kiuva is a wine cooperative founded in the 1970s. It brings together local growers united by a shared goal: to express the unique identity of their alpine terroir through distinctive mountain wines.

Since its foundation, the winery has developed a strong cooperative model based on collective expertise and careful vineyard management, resulting in authentic and expressive wines.

A Mountain Vineyard Shaped by Altitude

The vineyards of La Kiuva lie between 380 and 500 meters above sea level on steep slopes overlooking the valley. This demanding landscape requires fully manual vineyard work and encourages precision viticulture.

The alpine climate, characterized by strong day–night temperature variations, allows for slow grape ripening, preserving freshness, acidity, and aromatic intensity.

Local Grapes and Terroir Identity

La Kiuva highlights native and regional grape varieties, including the local Nebbiolo clone known as Picotendro, along with Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Merlot. These grapes are cultivated across small parcels at varying altitudes.

Each wine is crafted to reflect the purity of the Aosta Valley terroir, combining alpine freshness, aromatic finesse, and elegant structure.

A Collective and Sustainable Approach

The philosophy of La Kiuva is based on integrated vineyard management, from grape selection to harvest, with a strong focus on quality and consistency.

The cooperative favors sustainable viticulture practices adapted to the challenging mountain environment, ensuring long-term respect for the land and its biodiversity.
