The revival of a great Burgundy house

Since reclaiming his family’s Burgundy estate in 2017, Laurent Delaunay has sought plots among the most prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits.

Top-quality sourcing

Thanks to an established network of highly respected growers throughout the Côte d'Or, Laurent Delaunay can secure top-quality grapes to produce his range of classic village wines, intriguing Premiers Crus, and superb Grands Crus.

Tailored viticulture

At Maison Édouard Delaunay, Laurent and his team understand that every terroir, grape variety, and vintage is unique. Each year, they adapt fermentation and aging practices for each cuvée to ensure the oak emphasizes the expressive potential of the wine rather than masking it.

Art and precision

The Delaunay cellars combine ancestral and modern techniques. Every winemaking decision, from harvest to bottling, is based on careful group tastings. Custom-made traditional tools allow for ancestral practices, while a fully renovated cellar enables highly precise vinification.

The jewel in the crown

While Laurent is proud of all his wines, he has a special affection for his Griotte-Chambertin. This rare red is the smallest of the Grands Crus of the Côte d'Or and showcases exceptional depth and complexity.

A rich and unique history

Maison Edouard Delaunay was founded in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1893 by Laurent Delaunay’s great-grandfather. Throughout the 20th century, the house ranked among Burgundy’s top producers, supplying wines to prestigious institutions (Élysée, Senate), high-profile retailers (Nicolas, Maison Prunier), and major global travel companies. Its reputation earned it the trust of esteemed estates like Domaine de la Romanée Conti and the Liger-Belair family (La Romanée) for wine distribution. Reacquired in 2017 by Laurent Delaunay, great-grandson of the founder, the house now aims to reclaim its position among Burgundy’s finest by producing and aging exceptional wines from the region’s most remarkable terroirs, with rigor and precision.

Behind the Wines

Laurent Delaunay

When Laurent’s father fell ill in 1992 and made the difficult decision to sell the century-old family négociant business, Laurent launched his own winery, Badet Clément. The company achieved great success, producing wines across eastern France, from Burgundy to the Languedoc. Yet the loss of Maison Édouard Delaunay remained in his memory. Twenty-five years later, in 2017, he repurchased the estate and its ancestral home, Château de Charmont, with ambitious plans to restore its former glory and reestablish Maison Édouard Delaunay as one of Burgundy’s top wine producers.
